Bartlett stung by own goal in loss to East Aurora
An own goal in the first half did in Bartlett's boys soccer team Tuesday, as the Hawks suffered their first loss of the season, 1-0, to East Aurora.
Alex Busch had 4 saves in goal for Bartlett (6-1, 1-1) in the Upstate Eight Conference Valley Division game.
Bartlett will host Larkin, which lost to St. Charles North 4-2 on Tuesday, at 4:30 p.m. Thursday in the semifinals if the Pepsi Showdown tournament. That match will be played at Streamwood's Millennium Field.
Hampshire 3, Belvidere North 0: Francisco Solis, Andrew Obmalay and Jason Bishop scored goals and Marcus Quick had 8 saves in goal as Hampshire (6-4-1) registered a nonconference shutout. Ismael Morales, Geza Koger and Obmalay each had assist for the Whip-Purs.
CL South 3, Dundee-Crown 0: Charlie Oliver notched a hat trick to lead the Gators to a Fox Valley Conference Valley Division win. Adam Gatza, Matt Biederwolf and Trevor Bittenbender had assists for CL South (7-1-1, 5-0) and David Walsh made 4 saves for his seventh shutout of the season. Scott Nowicke had 5 saves in goal for Dundee-Crown (5-5-5, 3-2).
Huntley 2, McHenry 0: Alekz Rys and Javi Diaz scored for the Red Raiders (3-5-1, 2-2-0) in this FVC Valley win. Kevin Montelongo made 3 saves in goal for Huntley.
Batavia 7, Elgin 1: Jon Sandoval scored Elgin's only goal in this Upstate Eight Conference River Division loss. Tony Benitez had 7 saves in goal for the Maroons (1-7-1, 0-4).
Cary-Grove 2, Prairie Ridge 1: Jacob Cunningham and Jon Guay scored goals as the Trojans (3-2-1, 3-2) came away with a Fox Valley Conference win. Tom Breen had 8 saves in goal for Cary-Grove.
Jacobs 7, Woodstock 1: Matt Ehrhardt and Anthony Moscattelo each scored 2 goals to lead Jacobs (5-2, 4-1) to a Fox Valley Conference win. Erik Nava, Garrett Fales and Taylor Pignataro each scored single goals for the Golden Eagles and A.J. Pfatschbacher made 3 saves in goal and John Duggan two.
Lake Park 5, South Elgin 1: Mike Kozielek scored on an assist from Danny Frey for South Elgin's only goal in this Upstate Eight (Valley) loss. Jared Schiele had 12 saves in goal for the Storm (5-4).
