Myron Myers to sing at Harper College

Myron Myers, who sang two roles for the Grammy nominated recording of the opera La Dafne by Italian composer Marco da Gagliano, will showcase a variety of musical styles and his singing versatility in a noontime concert Tuesday, Nov. 23, at Harper College.

Myers will sing Italian songs, traditional sailors' drinking songs, and songs from Franz Schubert at 12:15 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center, 1200 W. Algonquin Road, Palatine. There is no admission charge.

An operatic singer whose range is described as basso cantante, or “singing bass,” Myers has sung with such conductors as Leonard Slatkin, Robert Shaw, Roger Wagner and Robert Page. He, a coordinator of voice studies at Northern Illinois University, is the founder of Voci d'estate, a summer program in Castelfranco Veneto, Italy, for emerging operatic singers.
