Thursday's Fox Valley roundup

The IHSA released seedings for the Class 3A and 4A state tournaments Thursday.

In Class 4A, three local teams landed top regional seeds within the Larkin sectional.

At the Dundee-Crown regional, South Elgin (16-6) gained the No. 1 seed. Streamwood is No. 2, followed by Schaumburg, Dundee-Crown and Elgin.

Cary-Grove (15-9) was named the No. 1 seed at the regional it will host, followed by McHenry, Hoffman Estates, Conant and Rolling Meadows.

Huntley (18-5) earned the top seed at the Jacobs regional, followed by Crystal Lake South, Jacobs, Larkin and Rockford Jefferson.

Bartlett will compete in the 20-team St. Charles North sectional, which does not feature predetermined regionals. The Hawks were seeded No. 14. St. Charles North is the top seed.

In Class 3A, Burlington Central (26-1) was named the No. 1 seed at the Hampshire regional, ahead of Prairie Ridge, Crystal Lake Central, Kaneland and Hampshire.

Bartlett 1, Larkin 0: Mike Tomsovic fired a 1-hitter with 4 strikeouts as Bartlett downed Larkin in the Upstate Eight. Tyler Farina had the game-winning walk off single for the Hawks in the seventh inning. Drew Shore suffered the loss for the Royals (5-17, 4-11).

Burlington Central 12, North Boone 2: Austin Jarvis (2-for-4, 2B) hit his 12th home run of the season to break the school record set by Brad Lenschow in 1979 as the Rockets (26-1, 8-0) clinched at least a share of the Big Northern East title and won their 21st straight game. Jarvis finished with 4 RBI while Drew Stover (3-for-4, 2B), Nolan Anderson (2-for-2, 2B, 4 RBI) and Sam Klein (2-for-4, RBI) also contributed to the offense. Klein (8-0) threw a 5-hitter with 4 strikeouts and no walks for the win.

Streamwood 15, Elgin 0: Mike Diebold homered and drove in 3 runs as the Sabres (16-9, 10-6) rolled to an easy Upstate Eight win at Trout Park. Sophomore Richie Gorski threw a perfect game through five innings and finished with a 1-hitter for Streamwood. Gorski (2 hits, 2 RBI), Dylan Noncek (2 hits, 2B, 2 RBI) and Patrick Manning (2-for-3) also contributed for the Sabres. Drew Bloomquist suffered the loss for Elgin (4-18, 3-13).

Antioch 7, Cary-Grove 6: Michael Vilardo (2 doubles, RBI) and Nick Richter (2-for-4, 3 RBI) led the Trojans (15-9) in this nonconference loss. Matt Efflandt was the losing pitcher.

CL South 4, Carmel 0: Mike Benson (4-1) threw a 4-hitter to lead the Gators (15-9) to a nonconference win. Billy Wright and Robbie Lemke each drove in runs for South.

South Elgin 6, Lake Park 3: Senior Drew Buddle (6-3) went the distance for the Storm striking out 12 and allowing 4 hits in this Upstate Eight win. South Elgin (16-6, 11-5) tied a school record for wins with the victory. Kyle Kinyon was 3-for-4 for South Elgin.

Hampshire 4, Harvard 1: Tyler Crater had 2 RBI and Luke Wians (4-1) fired a 2-hitter to lead Hampshire (13-11, 5-2) in the Big Northern East.

Walther Lutheran 6, St. Edward 1: Jon Godfrey (2-4) suffered the loss for St. Edward (12-15) in this nonconference defeat.

Westminster Christian 7, Somonauk 0: Frank Oliver drove in 2 runs and Ryan Perez spun a 1-hitter to lead Westminster in nonconference action.

College baseballECC sweeps Concordia: Anthony Campanella (8-2) tossed a 7-hitter as the Spartans (30-16) recorded a 7-5 win in Game 1. Andy Grunewald (5-2) picked up the win in Game 2.Judson sweeps PNC: The Eagles (33-19, 20-10) took both ends of a doubleheader as they swept the series over Purdue-North Central 15-8 and 8-5. Zach Liebman (5-1) earned the victory in Game 1 while Kyle Murphy (1-0) picked up the win in Game 2. Zach Williams, Andy Parsill, Nate Rohl, and Matt McHenry each picked up 2 hits in Game 1 while Mike Krueger added 2 hits in Game 2 and Paul Zarlengo drove in 2 runs.
