Tuesday's Fox Valley roundup

Senior Ben Albano (3-for-4) homered twice and drove in 7 runs as Jacobs toppled Grayslake North 13-3 in a six-inning Fox Valley Conference crossover baseball game in Algonquin Tuesday.

Juniors Brett Kale (2-for-4, 4 RBI) and Nate Andersen also hit home runs for the Golden Eagles (8-9, 5-7). Junior left-hander Joe Ross improved to 3-0 after allowing 3 earned runs with 5 strikeouts in 5 innings pitched.

Huntley 11, Woodstock 1: It was another big day for Huntley's Chris Klein. At the plate, he homered and drove in 3 runs. On the mound, the St. Xavier-bound senior held the Blue Streaks to 1 earned run on 2 hits, struck out seven and walked two in a 6-inning Fox Valley Conference crossover victory in Huntley. Senior Phil Pupillo and freshman Bryce Only (3-for-3, 3 RBI) also hit home runs for the Red Raiders (16-4, 10-3).

Cary-Grove 12, Woodstock North 1: Junior Keven Weber improved to 4-0 by holding the Thunder to a lone run on 3 hits in a 5-inning Fox Valley Conference crossover victory in Cary. Weber struck out 10 and walked one. Steve Hapanovich (2 RBI) and Alex Posey doubled and Matt Kownick tripled and drove in 3 runs for Cary-Grove (13-8, 9-4).

Crystal Lake Central 9, Dundee-Crown 6: The Chargers scored 2 runs in the sixth and 2 in the seventh but couldn't over come an 8-2 deficit through five innings. Zach Vodicka (3-3) allowed 5 earned runs on 9 hits in 5 innings. Jake Romano went 4-for-4 with 2 doubles and a triple and Nick Spagnola went 2-for-3 with a double for Dundee-Crown (10-10, 7-5).

Neuqua Valley 10 Elgin 2: Alex Doty doubled and Javier Cárdenas and Gage Teschner each had 2 hits, but the Wildcats were able to handle the Maroons in an Upstate Eight game in Naperville. Pitcher Drew Bloomquist (0-1) started and allowed 8 earned runs on 7 hits with 5 strikeouts in 41/3 innings for Elgin (4-12, 3-7).

Aurora Christian 7, St. Edward 4: At Wing Park in Elgin, the Eagles scored 6 runs in the top of the fifth inning to forge a split of the 2-game Suburban Christian (Gold) series. St. Edward outhit Aurora Christian 8-7, led by senior David Hoebbel (3-for-4, 2 doubles) and Jordan Torres (2-for-4). Torres absorbed the loss to fall to 2-3 this season for St. Edward (10-10, 4-6).
