Dundee-Crown 5, Woodstock 4: The Chargers (4-5, 1-0) found themselves in a tight game heading into the sixth inning tied at 3-3, but they would score 2 runs in the bottom of the sixth to go ahead and secure the victory in this Fox Valley Conference matchup. Junior Nick Spagnola sparked the Chargers offensively as he went 3-for-3 at the plate with 2 triples and 3 RBI while fellow junior Scott Nowicke added a home run. Mike Lodi earned the win for the Chargers scattering 8 hits, striking out 4, and allowing 3 earned runs in 6 innings of work. Zach Vodicka picked up the save tossing a hitless seventh inning and recording 1 strikeout.
Westminster Christian 3, Timothy Christian 2: The Warriors (6-2) played with just 9 players as 3 starters were out due to injury or sickness, but were able to pull off an extra inning victory over Timothy Christian on the road. Freshman call-up Will Woodhouse provided a big defensive play with 2 outs in the bottom of the seventh inning to send the game into extra innings. Timothy Christian had the winning run standing on second base when Woodhouse, who was playing second, stopped a shot up the middle that hit the bag and he threw to first to strand the runner and send the game into the eighth inning. Kevin Elder paced the offense with a 2-for-3 performance at the plate and 2 RBI while Mike Bruce added a double and an RBI. Jordan Kalous picked up the victory for the Warriors throwing 5 innings of 2 hit ball and striking out 6 while Elder came in to strikeout the side in the eighth to earn the save.
Cary-Grove 11, Johnsburg 5: The Trojans (5-4) picked up a Fox Valley Conference crossover victory as they defeated the Skyhawks on their own field, playing as the visiting team due to poor field conditions at Johnsburg. Chris Waylock jump-started the offense as he recorded 2 doubles while Stewart Gaulke added a double of his own. Trojan pitcher Kevin Weber threw 32/3 innings, allowing 2 earned runs while striking out 3 to earn the victory.
