Boys soccer/Fox Valley roundup

Bartlett’s boys soccer team scored a first-half goal and never looked back Tuesday, defeating Waubonsie Valley 3-1 in an Upstate Eight Conference Valley Division matchup, Bartlett’s first win over the Warriors in 3 years.

Tyler Lake scored twice for the Hawks (9-9-2, 2-3-1) while Joey Morgan scored the other goal. Ramiro Arroyo added 2 assists and Anthony DiNuzzo added 1 assist making him the first Bartlett player every to reach double-digits (10 assists, 10 goals) in assists and scores in a single season. Cristian Alva turned away 6 shots on goal.

St. Charles East 3, Larkin 2: The Royals (13-5-4, 3-1-2) battled tough, but suffered their first Upstate Eight River loss of the season. Tony Hernandez converted on a penalty kick while Mattheas Warren also recorded a goal on an assist from Manny Aguilar. Santiago Guerrero recorded 4 saves in goal. Jacobs 1, Grayslake North 0: The Golden Eagles found the back of the net in the second half to earn a 1-0 victory in this Fox Valley crossover. Mike Mamola recorded the tally while Tommy Gallagher added the assist. Nick Matysyk turned away 8 shots on goal to preserve the shutout.

South Elgin 3, Hononegah 2: Mike Kozielek recorded 2 goals for the Storm (10-4-5) in this nonconference victory. Phil Saccamence recorded the other goal while Danny Fry added 2 assists. Jared Schieler recorded 6 saves in goal for the Storm.

Christian Liberty Academy 6, Elgin Academy 1: The Hilltoppers’ season came to an end as they lost to undefeated Christian Liberty Academy in the Class 1A Westminster Christian regional. Tom Tunca recorded 8 saves in goal for Elgin Academy.

Prairie Ridge 3, Huntley 2: The Red Raiders (11-7-3, 2-4) were unable to pull out the victory in this Fox Valley Fox game. Lucas Baker found the back of the net off a Niko Miholopolous assist while the Raiders’ second goal was scored off the foot of the opposing defender. Jeffrey Husak and Austen Emery split time in goal, but recorded no saves.

Dundee-Crown 1, McHenry 1 (suspended): The Chargers and Warriors finished regulation play, but were suspended due to darkness as they were about to head into the overtime period. Kyle Hogan recorded the lone goal for the Chargers while Christian Martinez turned away 4 shots on goal. This game will be resumed Thursday.
