Harper College seeks young entrepreneurs for new program

Harper College is seeking high school entrepreneurs interested in launching a business with the help of a $2,500 grant. Information sessions on the Palatine school’s new youth entrepreneur program will be held from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12 and Wednesday, Oct. 19 at the Harper Professional Center, 650 E. Higgins Road, Schaumburg. Small business specialist Carl Mattes will coach students on the ins and outs of business, work with them on a business plan and help launch their big idea. As many as 20 participants will attend weekly classes and present their business plans to a panel of local small business executives. The top two will land grants provided by community donors. It’s free to apply, but those who are accepted will pay $50 to take the class.
