Lakes hits its way past Grayslake N.

The game was called in the sixth inning due to lightning but Lakes' bats were already crackling long before that.

The Eagles (6-2) led 5-1 after three innings and scored 4 more runs in the fourth, finishing with 12 hits in a 10-1 baseball victory over Grayslake North on Monday.

Travis Vanderwall went 3-for-3 including a double while Paul Kukulka had 2 hits and drove in 3 runs. Ryan Noon and Nick Traska also finished with 2 hits apiece for Lakes.

On the mound, Nick Hibbing picked up the win, striking out 8 and giving up just 2 walks. He moves to 2-0 on the season.

Wauconda 10, Milwaukee Lutheran 5: Jeff Jackson came up with some big hits as the Bulldogs improved to 6-3.

Jackson drilled a double and a triple and finished with 4 RBI. Meanwhile, sophomore Shawn Sundquist got in on the action with a home run. He also picked up the win on the mound, giving up just 2 walks in 5 innings.

Grant splits with Deerfield: Grant got off to a good start in its doubleheader against Deerfield, picking up a 7-4 victory in the opening game.

Pitcher Justin Cokefair led the way for the Bulldogs. He struck out 4 batters in moving his record to 2-0 on the mound.

Grant got plenty of offense from Kyle Hunter and Thomas Gier. Hunter went 3-for-4 with a double and home run and 2 RBI while Gier went 2-for-3 and also drove in 2 runs.

In the second game, Deerfield came away with an 8-6 win, despite Jared Helmich going a perfect 4-for-4 for Grant.
