Harper men take lead at nationals
The Harper College men’s track and field team holds a 78-60 lead over second place SUNY-Delhi after the second day of competition at the NJCAA Division III track and field national championships in Alfred, NY.
The Harper men were led Friday by decathlon national champion Jarret Austin (5,724 points) and high jump champ Robert Douglas (1.92 meters).
The Harper women stand 1 point (54-53) behind meet leader Mohawk Valley Community College.
The Hawks’ De’Larrisa Morris (Streamwood) won her second NJCAA Division III heptathlon championship with 3,530 points.
The Harper women are looking for the program’s first national championship.
The final day of competition for both men and women begins today at 9 a.m.
