Girls soccer/Fox Valley roundup

It took extra time, but the Red Raiders stayed on a roll in Fox Valley Conference play Tuesday.

Host Huntley improved to 8-0-0 overall and 3-0 in the FVC with a 2-1 overtime victory over McHenry.

Almost seven minutes into overtime, Rachel Chapuis played a high cross into the box. Senior forward Emily Konior fought for the ball, got it on her foot and tipped it past the McHenry keeper at the 86:55 mark to lift Huntley, which outshot the Warriors 29-5.

After a scoreless first half, McHenry took the goal on a direct kick from 40 yards out by senior Molly Machometa. The Red Raiders tied the game 1-1 in the 75th minute when Aimee Wronski took a pass from Chapuis 25 yards from the net, turned, dribble to the 18-yard mark and blasted a shot low to the corner.

Cary-Grove 1, Prairie Ridge 0: Kory Kronforst scored with 1:16 left in the second overtime, assisted by Jae Jay Usab, to lift Cary-Grove to victory over visiting Prairie Ridge in Fox Valley Conference action. Goalkeeper Krstyal Felderman made 7 saves for Cary-Grove (7-5, 4-1). Whitney Whitehouse made 14 saves for Prairie Ridge.

Crystal Lake South 3, Dundee-Crown 0: Alex Romano scored on an assist from Ellen Brunner and Karli Schumaker scored unassisted to lift the Gators to a 2-0 halftime lead, and Kali Loescher cashed in on a penalty kick in the second half to lift CL South (4-4-2, 3-1) past Dundee-Crown (3-7, 2-2) in Fox Valley Conference action in Crystal Lake. Elizabeth Quinn stopped 2 shots to complete her fourth shutout of the season. Ali Sanders made 11 saves in net for D-C.

Jacobs 4, Woodstock 0: Amy Rigby scored twice and Catie Sherman and Lauren Grady each contributed a goal and an assist in a Fox Valley Conference victory for Jacobs (11-3, 3-1). Meghan Minogue had 4 saves for the Golden Eagles.

Bartlett 8, East Aurora 0: The offense was clicking, mainly because the Bartlett defense was impenetrable, allowing 0 shots on goalkeeper Natalia Grodzki. Kendra Videckis had 2 goals and six other players notched a goal for the Hawks (6-3-2, 1-1) “I'm pleased with how we play,” Bartlett coach Heather Thomas said. “We were able to snap our drought of goals and wins.”

St. Charles North 6, Larkin 0: Goalkeeper Diana Hernandez stopped 10 shots for Larkin (0-11-1) in a one-sided Upstate Eight Conference match in St. Charles.

Batavia 7, Elgin 0: Seven different players scored goals for the Bulldogs in an Upstate Eight River matchup in Batavia.

Kaneland 2, Streamwood 0: Brianna Roppo made 15 saves but the Sabres dropped this contest at the West Aurora Tournament.Hampshire 12, North Boone 0: The Whip-Purs enjoyed an offensive bonanza in a Big Northern East victory in Hampshire. Natalie Starrenburg had a hat trick and an assist, Alex Zeller had a hat trick and Dakota Walther finished with a goal and 3 assists for Hampshire (6-2-4)Wheaton Academy 8, St. Edward 0: Paige Gannon made 12 saves, but the host Warriors' attack was too much to handle in a Suburban Christian Conference game in West Chicago for St. Edward (5-2-1, 2-1).
