Group effort powers Carmel

Carmel’s softball kids keep contributing.

Freshmen Abby Andrejek, Kathleen Felicelli and Nicole Bitter, and sophomores Erika Schoenfeld and Danielle Pullano all played roles in the Corsairs’ 10-0, five-inning win over St. Joseph of Kenosha, Wis., on Thursday.

Carmel improved to 5-2.

Andrejek (2 runs scored) and junior Kelley Dodge (double, triple, 2 runs, RBI) each went 3-for-3, while Felicelli was 2-for-3 with 3 RBI and 2 runs scored. Pullano had a triple and 2 RBI.

Bitter pitched 3 innings for the win, striking out five. Schoenfeld tossed the final two frames.

Barrington 5, Lakes 4: The host Fillies scored twice in the bottom of the sixth to spoil the Eagles’ upset bid.

Lakes got a triple from Meghan Milewski and a double from Shannon Cooley.

Buffalo Grove 7, Grant 1: The nonconference loss dropped the Bulldogs’ record to 3-3.
