Hersey works OT for victory
Hersey scored 3 goals in overtime, two of them by Stephen Petro, to earn their second divisional victory of the season with an 11-8 victory over Prospect on Thursday in boys water polo.
Hersey trailed 5-3 after the third quarter but scored five times in the fourth.
Petro finished with 7 goals for the Huskies (3-11, 2-4), and Carlos Andina had 2.
Matt Forssander led the way for Prospect (3-9, 3-4) with 5 goals.
Schaumburg 13, Barrington 7: The Saxons broke open what had been a tight game with 8 fourth-quarter goals for a victory at Barrington.
Mike Gergen scored 5 goals and Randy Carr had 4 for Schaumburg (14-7, 4-2).
Palatine 11, Conant 5: The visiting Pirates (15-1, 7-0) prevailed at Conant to maintain their lead over second-place Schaumburg for first place in the MSL West.
Fremd 16, Hoffman Estates 8: Senior Dustin Anderson scored a season-high 9 goals to help the host Vikings (6-8, 3-3) past the Hawks in an MSL West matchup.
Wheeling 8, Buffalo Grove 5: The Wildcats remained unbeaten in the MSL East after a victory over the host Bison.
