Lake Park goes undefeated in Ohio

Wendy's Classic: Lake Park defeated Hillsdale (Ohio) 9-8 to wrap up a 4-0 finish at the Wendy's Classic in Ashland, Ohio. Sarah Koch hit a 2-run homer, and Kelly Mieszala went 3-for-4 and scored 3 runs. Vanessa Wegner and Samantha Becker both added doubles. Earlier in the day Lake Park (11-3) beat Ashland 13-9.

WW South 8-11, Glenbard West 3-2: Kristen Santora went 2-for-4 with 5 RBI in the opener and 2-for-4 with 2 RBI in Game 2 for the Tigers (10-6). Timmie Rappe went 3-for-3 and scored 2 runs in Game 2. Bri Wyatt and Jenna Ortega each had 2 hits for Glenbard West (4-9) in Game 1.

West Chicago 8-9, Waubonsie Valley 0-6: Mary Connolly (8-3) struck out 10 in four innings in Game 1, and notched the win in relief in the second game in Aurora. Jen Kochar drove in 3 runs for No. 20 West Chicago (11-5) in the second game.

Downers Grove South 6-9, Plainfield South 5-2: Danielle Trezzo hit a walkoff homer in Game 1, her second solo shot of the game, for the host Mustangs. In the second game Marissa Mersch went 4-for-4 with a double and 3 RBi and Katie Talbot (6-0) struck out nine for No. 6 Downers Grove South (9-1).

Downers Grove North 3, Mother McAuley 1: Elaine Heflin (5-1) struck out 10 as the Trojans (9-3) ran their win streak to eight straight.

Glenbard East 9-13, Hinsdale Central 12-3: Megan Shannon homered and drove in 4 runs as the Rams (5-8) took Game 2 for a doubleheader split in Lombard. Jenna Camp doubled twice with 3 RBI, and had a double and triple in Game 1.

Mt. Assisi 4-7, Montini 3-5: Lara Mangialardi went 2-for-4 with an RBI for the Broncos (4-11) in Game 1, and Kaitlin Maggiore went 2-for-4, stole 2 bases and scored 2 runs in the second game.

Wheaton Academy 22-15, Lake Forest Academy 1-5: Winning pitcher Kim Olson (2-0) struck out 10 and also homered in Game 1 for the Warriors (9-4). Ashley Pivaronas also went deep in the first game.
