Elk Grove outpitches, outhits Conant

Jack Czeszewski came one out away from pitching a complete game, and Elk Grove’s lineup gave him plenty of breathing room as the visiting Grenadiers topped Conant 9-2 in a Mid-Suburban League crossover Friday.

Luc Dimaso went 3-for-4 and Czeszewski, Mikey Maize and Patrick O’Malley had 2 hits apiece in Elk Grove’s 13-hit effort. Maize, O’Malley and Cody Gustafson each tripled and had 1 RBI.

David Camacho got the final out for Elk Grove (10-4, 2-1).

Nick Monelli, Zach Losch and Kerry Hickerson had 2 hits each for Conant. Losch had a solo homer in the fifth for the Cougars (4-8, 0-3).

Schaumburg 14, Wheeling 4 (5 inn.): Matt Brancato and Braden Teele supplied 3-run homers as part of the host Saxons’ 14-hit attack.

Colin Bethran also went deep for the Saxons (9-7, 2-1) in the MSL crossover to help make a winner of Brancato (2-2), who pitched 5 innings and struck out five against Wheeling (1-14, 0-3).

Schaumburg’s Chris Carlson went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI, Tom Byrne was 2-for-4 and scored twice, Brancato and Jordan Grubb had 2 hits apiece and Teele finished 3-for-4.

Barrington 9, Buffalo Grove 6: The host Broncos produced 15 hits to maintain their winning ways in a Mid-Suburban League crossover.

Justin Dragos, Scott Nelson and Frank Waliczek had doubles for Barrington (11-3, 3-0) as Max Redpath picked up the victory in the Broncos’ sixth straight win.

Mike Diviesti homered and Erich Froemming doubled for Buffalo Grove (6-10, 1-2).

Prospect 10, Hoffman Estates 2: Jordan Fedro threw a complete-game 4-hitter and Jack Landwehr and Dan Cavanaugh both had 3 hits to pace the visiting Knights in an MSL crossover triumph.

Prospect (4-9, 1-2) played error-free defense and got a double from Jackson Wrede. The Knights scored 8 of their runs with two outs.

Jordan Hudak doubled for Hoffman Estates (7-9, 1-2).

Rolling Meadows 9, Palatine 3: Matt Hendricks (2-for-4), Dan Hendrickson (2-for-3, RBI, 2 runs), Dan Hendricks (2-for-3, 2 runs, RBI) and Mike Olson (2-for-4, 3 RBI, 1 run) were top hitters for the Mustangs, who received a 4-hitter and 14 strikeouts from winning pitcher Matt Dennis.

Meadows won its ninth straight to improve to 11-3 and 3-0.

Olson, Zach Schultz (RBI), Mike Dolan (1 run) and Hendrickson each had doubles for the winners.

Eric Scheuermann (2-for-3) had 2 doubles for Palatine (5-12, 1-2) while Scott Schneberger had one.

Pirates relief pitcher Dan Jeske struck out six and gave up 2 hits in 4 innings.
