Softball/Fox Valley roundup

Burlington Central 8, Richmond-Burton 5: Emily Bell and winning pitcher Rebecca Roscher each hit home runs for BC (13-7, 2-2) in this Big Northern East win.

Cary-Grove 8, Dundee-Crown 0: Taylor Dunne was 3-for-4 with a double and 3 RBI and Lisa Semro went 2-for-4 with a double and 2 RBI as Cary-Grove (14-4, 5-1) won in the Fox Valley (Valley). Sarah Leudo added a double for the Trojans and Beata Krembuszewski was 1-for-1. Lindsay Efflandt (13-3) struck out 8 and walked 2 and gave up 2 hits to earn the win. Lauren Lococo was 2-for-3 with a double for the Chargers (5-11, 2-5) Amanda Eissler was the losing pitcher.

Hampshire 12, Woodstock North 7: Tiffany Bentley was 3-for-5, Jen Hurst and Sarah Finn each had 2 hits and Bri Marple had a double as Hampshire (10-12, 3-2) won in the FVC Fox. Hurst was also the winning pitcher, allowing 5 hits with 5 strikeouts and 3 walks.

Jacobs 5, CL South 3: Tori Berg scattered 6 hits and Jacobs scored 3 runs in the bottom of the sixth to win this FVC Valley game. Alyssa Lach was 2-for-3 with a double for Jacobs (10-8, 2-3) and Jenica Tierney was the same for CL South (13-4, 2-3). Hallie Massie suffered the loss for the Gators.

St. Edward 8, Walther Lutheran 6: Kali Kossakowski was 4-for-4 with an RBI, 4 stolen bases and 3 runs scored as St. Edward (4-10, 2-4) outlasted Walther Lutheran in eight innings in the Suburban Christian. Kristi Kroll (2-for-4, 2B), Ashley Gradisher (RBI), Maddie Kerr (RBI) and Darcy Gaige (RBI) contributed for the Green Wave. Julie Larson (3-4) picked up the win in relief, throwing 3 innings with no hits or walks and 2 strikeouts.

College softball

Judson loses 2: Judson finished the CCAC regular season with a doubleheader loss to St. Francis, 3-1 and 8-3. Sarah Boyer struck out 12 to go over 200 for the season in Game 1 and Kaleigh Velasquez had a home run. In Game 2, losing pitcher Sam Gladen (12 Ks) had a home run and Concetta Lampugnano was 3-for-4 for the Eagles (22-23, 8-10).
