Freshman Angie Morrow struck out 9 and allowed just 2 hits Thursday as Burlington Central’s softball team came back from a 7-0 loss to Barrington on Tuesday to beat No. 13 Elgin 4-2 on Thursday in Elgin.
Morrow also had a triple for the Rockets (7-5), whole Beckah Harnish (2-for-3), Emily Bell and Sarah Kisch each doubled.
Senior Hannah Perryman (4-3) took the loss for Elgin. She allowed 7 hits with 11 strikeouts and 1 walk. She also drove in the only run for the Maroons (6-5).
Dundee-Crown 12, Johnsburg 11: Senior Melany Love was 4-for-6 with the game-winning RBI as the Chargers (4-5) notched a Fox Valley crossover victory in eight innings. Love (2-0) also picked up the win in the circle, throwing the last 5 innings and allowing just 3 hits with 8 strikeouts and no walks. Amanda Eissler (4-for-5, HR, 2B, 3 RBI), Lauren Mercado (3-for-5, RBI), Abigail Perillo (2-for-5, RBI) and Jessica Lewandowski (3 RBI) also contributed for Dundee-Crown.
Cary-Grove 3, Grayslake Central 0: Lindsay Efflandt (7-0) scattered 6 hits with 8 strikeouts and 4 walks as the Trojans (7-0) stayed undefeated. Lisa Semro (2B), Sara Markelonis (3-for-3, 3B, RBI), Taylor Dunne (RBI) and Efflandt (RBI) led the Trojans’ offense.
Westminster Christian 14, Luther North 12: Westminster scored 4 runs in the top of the seventh inning to win this Northeast Athletic Conference game. Ally Heischler (4-for-5, 3 doubles, 5 RBI), Liz Farwell (3-for-4, 2 doubles, RBI, 4 RS), Rachel Fugiel (2-for-5, 3B) and Mikaila Hodge (2B) led the Warriors’ offense. Fugiel was the winning pitcher for Westminster (1-1, 1-1). She allowed 7 hits and had 8 strikeouts.
CL South 11, Richmond 0: Freshman Hailee Massie tossed a 1-hitter with 5 strikeouts to move to 2-1 on the year for the Gators. Liz Adams (3-for-3, RBI), Kim McElman (2 RBI), Lauren Gauger (2 RBI) and Sam McLean (2-for-3, RB) led the offense for Crystal Lake South (7-1).
Naperville North 10, Streamwood 2: Brittany delao had a triple and an RBI and Hallie Garcia drove in a run for Streamwood (3-6) in this nonconference loss. Kellee Conquest was the losing pitcher.
CL Central 12, Huntley 2: Angela Tribuzio had a double and Katelyn Behrens drove in a run for Huntley in a Fox Valley crossover loss. Ashley Laxner was the losing pitcher for the Red Raiders (1-6).
College softball
Judson drops 2: Emily England homered in Game 1 and Concetta Lampugnano was 3-for-4 with an RBI in Game 2 but Judson lost a CCAC doubleheader to Saint Xavier, 5-2 and 6-4. Sarah Boyer and Sam Gladen suffered the pitching losses for the Eagles (14-17, 3-7), despite striking out 11 in each game.
