Motorcycle ride for kids:The annual Chicagoland Ride for Kids to benefit the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation will be held at 9:15 a.m. July 18 Elgin Community College, 1700 Spartan Drive. Escorted by local and state police, motorcyclists will ride together to raise money for medical research grants and family support programs. Minimum donation is $35 per motorcycle. The ride will culminate at the college with a Celebration of Life program featuring onstage interviews with local childhood brain tumor survivors and award presentations to top fundraising chapters, clubs, individuals and motorcycle businesses. There will be a grand prize drawing for a new Honda motorcycle. Free coffee and pastries will be available for breakfast and a light lunch at the end of the ride. Daily lane closures on Kirk between Foxfield Road and Fox Chase Drive are taking place. Traffic is reduced to one through lane, and is controlled by floggers, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily through mid-August. Art On A YoYo All Ages Community Art Contest and Show." Participants can get an unassembled, unfinished yo-yo at the gallery, 28 N. Fourth St., or use their own. Designs must include art done on or two a standard-sized yo-yo. Entry is free, and a popular vote will determine the winner. Entries are due July 31. For an entry form and rules, visit gallery28.biz.Senior fun in Elburn:The Elburn Seniors club meets at 11:30 a.m. the first Thursday of the month at the Elburn Lions Club, 400 S. Filmore St. You do not have to live in Elburn to participate. Bring a dish to pass and your own table service. Coffee, iced tea and lemonade are provided. Cards, bingo and other games are played. Dues are $15 per year, of which $5 goes toward the annual pork chop dinner in August and $10 for a Christmas party. The club has a picnic in July.
