Harper earns third straight win

Home cooking kept Harper on quite a nice roll Tuesday.

Earning their third straight victory, the Hawks defeated Milwaukee Area Technical College 79-46. During their streak, the hawks have won by an average of 30 points.

Pacing the Hawks (19-7, 5-5, N4C) was Garett Gatz (Conant) with a game-high 15 points.

“When we run the offense, we’re the best,” Gatz said.

The Hawks started the second half on a 13-5 run to pull away from the Stormers (14-11, 3-6). Briana Battaglia (Elk Grove) keyed the run with 9 of his 11 points on 3-point field goals.

“After the first shot (went in) I just felt it,” Battaglia said.

Kemil Long (Hoffman Estates) and Wes Wilcox (Lake Park) each added 13 points.

“The second half we picked it up,” Long said. “(Milwaukee) switched a lot of screens. We got a lot of open looks.”
