Wheaton Academy edges Immaculate Conception

Wheaton Academy 1, Immaculate Conception 0:

Trevor Swaney (2-1) pitched a gem for the Warriors (4-2, 1-0) in their Suburban Christian Gold Conference opener. He struck out seven and walked none, and also scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning on a single by Jake Cousins.

West Chicago 8, Elgin 1:

Matt Zajac went 3-for-3 with 3 runs scored and an RBI as the Wildcats (5-2) broke out to a 6-0 lead after three innings in their nonconference victory. Jerrick Habecker improved to 2-0 on the mound and Sean Paler picked up the save by pitching a scoreless seventh inning.

WW South 5, Benet 4:

Complete-game winning pitcher Jeremy Rhoades (1-0) homered and drove in 2 runs for the Tigers (2-3), who won the nonconference game with a run in the bottom of the seventh. Zach Jarosz went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and 2 RBI. Matt Dorsett drove in 2 runs for Benet (4-3).
