The Lake County Community Foundation Announces New Executive Director and Board Chair

The Lake County Community Foundation announced today the naming of long-time board member and recent board chair, Miah H. Armour, to the role of executive director. Vice chair, Dominica Tallarico, has moved into the role of board chair.

With six years dedicated service to the Foundation, Armour, a corporate leader, three-term board member and Green Oaks resident, takes the reins of an organization in the process of expanding its grant making and community engagement efforts throughout Lake County.

"I have seen first-hand the growth the Foundation has experienced as it has acquired over $10 million in assets. This collective investment by our donors has enabled us to grow our grant making budget year over year," said Armour, a seasoned executive who began her work in philanthropy at the White House Office of National Service and the Points of Light Foundation. "By partnering with donors to make their charitable giving more meaningful, by supporting quality programs provided by local nonprofits and by providing community leadership on emerging issues, we are striving to build a more vibrant, prosperous community for all Lake County residents."

Armour's appointment to executive director at the Foundation was approved by the board in July and formalized with the Foundation's parent organization, The Chicago Community Trust, in late August.

Filling the vacancy of board chair is Dominica Tallarico, President of Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, a member of Advocate Health Care, which is the largest provider of health services in Illinois and a nationally ranked health system for quality. Tallarico is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), Chair of the 2016 American Heart Association Metro Chicago Heart Walk, and a Fellow of Leadership Greater Chicago.

"With Miah's continued leadership at the Foundation, our top priorities are achievable," said Tallarico. "She is poised to quickly take action on our strategic objectives including growing the Foundation's asset base for the benefit of Lake County today and in the future, building awareness of the many needs in Lake County, and an even stronger board that represents the whole of Lake County."

The Lake County Community Foundation emerged in 2003 from a discussion of several philanthropists, around a kitchen table, who identified the need to improve the quality of life for their most vulnerable Lake County neighbors. Today, the Foundation strives to increase the effectiveness of its grants as well as build and grow charitable assets to benefit our community for generations to come. To date, the Foundation has invested more than $3 million in grant support to 150 local nonprofits.
