Two art exhibits on display at McHenry County College

McHenry County College features two art exhibits, including Lisa Lofgren's printmaking and Barbara Schneider's free motion stitching.

Lofgren's exhibit, "Tethered World," is on display through Oct. 1 in Gallery One and Two, inside and outside the MCC Library. Lofgren is an artist, educator and founder of "Together Press," a community printmaking and papermaking facility in coordination with cometogetherstudios in Bloomington.

She is also curator at the McLean County Arts Center and an adjunct instructor at Heartland Community College.

Schneider's exhibit, "Beautiful Faces: Thread Paintings Exploring the Imperfect," is on display through Oct. 5 in the Epping Gallery in the Building B hallway, opposite the bookstore. Schneider began quilting in 1996 and discovered the pleasure of working with cloth, paint, dye and thread.

Her interest in the Japanese concept of Wabi-Sabi strongly influences her work. She exhibits her work nationally and internationally, and she maintains a studio at The Starline Gallery in Harvard.
