'One Family and Chicago Architecture' class offered by CLC Discovery program
Join licensed architect Daniel Sih, president of J.W. Sih and Associates, Inc., to learn how he and his father's architecture firm impacted Chicago architecture at a College of Lake County Discovery! class.
"One Family and Chicago Architecture" will be offered from 10 a.m. to noon Saturdays, Feb. 21 and 28, at CLC's Southlake Campus, 1120 S. Milwaukee Ave., Vernon Hills.
Daniel Sih will discuss the impact that his father, Julius W. Sih, an immigrant civil engineer from China, had on Chicago architecture and how he has carried on his father's legacy by influencing government decisions regarding architecture.
Daniel Sih serves as a commissioner at the Chicago Plan Commission and was vice chairman at the Chicago Building Board of Appeals. His father started his own firm in 1965 and was consulting structural engineer for the famous architect Mies van der Rohe.
