Believe Project: $100 to split between two struggling families

Today's winner of a $100 bill through the Believe Project is Gayle Lendabarker of Glen Ellyn.

Here is an excerpt of her pitch:

"I would split the $100 between two families I work with who are struggling financially. The one family has two small children whose mother left them with their father, a veteran who can only find two part-time jobs. Even though the family receives some state assistance, it is not enough to cover everything.

The other family is an elderly couple struggling to make ends meet after the wife suffered a stroke about a year ago. The wife is in and out of the hospital often.

Fifty dollars each does not sound like much, but a lot of groceries can be had with that."

• The Believe Project will mail a $100 bill each day to someone with a good idea for how to use it to do a good deed for someone else. Email us your pitch of 100 words or fewer (include your name, address and hometown) to specialevents@dailyherald.com.
