Believe Project: $100 to help couple avoid eviction

Today's winner of a $100 bill through the Believe Project is Rich Weigel of Lisle.

Here is an excerpt of his pitch:

"I volunteer at our church to help those who are down and out. Recently I visited a couple who were being threatened with eviction from their apartment. Harold, age 58, lost his job as an engineer several years ago. His unemployment compensation has expired and they live on his wife's disability check. A year and a half ago, they lost their house in Bolingbrook. Harold continues to network with local job clubs without success yet. Their only food is obtained at nearby food pantries. They are also late paying utility bills.

Our church was able to help them partially with this month's rent, but they still face an uphill battle. The $100 would help them pay some of their bills and let them know they are not alone."

• The Believe Project will mail a $100 bill each day to someone with a good idea for how to use it to do a good deed for someone else. Email us your pitch of 100 words or fewer (include your name, address and hometown) to specialevents@dailyherald.com.
