McHenry knitting guild to host charity event

On Tuesday, July 14, the Cultured Purls Knitting Guild of McHenry County will hold a charity knitting event from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Centegra Sage Cancer Center, 4305 Medical Center Drive in McHenry, and 5 to 7 p.m. at Centegra Hospital-Woodstock, 3701 Doty Road in Woodstock, in conference rooms A and B.

Participants can bring a project to work on or finished items to donate. Yarn, needles and patterns will be available.

The Cultured Purls will donate baby hats and baby blankets to the Centegra nurseries and hats, slippers and lap blankets to the Centegra Sage Cancer Center for chemotherapy patients. Visit www.culturedpurls.com.

Giving back to McHenry County is an annual goal of the knitting guild. Every year, the charity committee suggests projects for different groups in the area.

Due to the generosity of the knitters, they are able to donate to the nursery department of Centegra Hospital, Sage Cancer Center in McHenry and St. Vincent de Paul in Chicago.
