Wrap: Redhawks beat Panthers in 12

Natalie Wunderlich struck out 18 and scored from third base on a Stephanie Lynch single in the 12th inning, lifting Naperville Central (5-0, 2-0 DuPage Valley Conference) past Glenbard North 2-1 on Wednesday.

Hannah Santora had 5 strikeouts for Glenbard North (6-3, 1-1).

Wheaton North 6, Naperville North 4: Kahla Nolan struck out six and Paige Wilson had 2 doubles for Wheaton North (8-4, 1-1 DVC).

West Aurora 3, WW South 2: With two outs in the ninth, Marybeth Vasquez singled and moved to second on an error. She reached third on a single and scored the game-winning run for West Aurora (11-0) on a wild pitch.

Lake Park 9, Neuqua Valley 4: Missy Mazur struck out eight for the Lancers (7-0, 6-0 Upstate Eight Conference), who scored 4 runs apiece in the third and fifth innings.

West Chicago 2, Glenbard East 0: Freshman Mary Connolly struck out 13 in a 3-hit shutout and went 2-for-3 at the plate for the Wildcats (5-3, 1-1 DVC).

Downers Grove South 15, Willowbrook 3: Brooke Andresen went 4-for-4 with 3 runs batted in, and Andresen and Kayla Gull both homered in the first inning for the Mustangs (8-1, 2-0 West Suburban Gold).

Morton 3, Addison Trail 2: Morton scored 2 runs in the bottom of the seventh to rally past Addison Trail (3-3, 1-1 West Suburban Gold). Gina Pizzoferrato struck out nine for the Blazers.

Glenbard South 11, York 4: Lauren Podgorski went 4-for-5 with 2 stolen bases and 2 RBI and Nikki Simpson 3-for-4 with 2 RBI for the Raiders (8-2). Robin Borowski (3-1) struck out 11.

Fenton 9, Ridgewood 1: Amber Schwarzinger struck out 10 and Sasha Molina went 3-for-4 with a double, triple, 3 runs scored and 3 RBI for Fenton (4-5, 2-0 Metro Suburban Conference).

South Elgin 5, Waubonsie Valley 2: A 4-run South Elgin third inning was the difference in the Upstate Eight Conference contest. Becky Horton went 2-for-3 with an RBI for Waubonsie Valley (1-8, 1-4).

Immaculate Conception 1, Montini 0: Erin Dunne scored the game's lone run in the first inning, as she doubled and scored on 2 illegal pitches for the Lady Knights (3-5, 1-2 Suburban Catholic Conference). Montini (2-4, 0-2) twice loaded the bases but could not score.

St. Edward 5, Driscoll 4: Katie Mrugacz went 2-for-4 with an RBI and Gina Maritote 2-for-3 and scored a run for Driscoll (6-8, 1-4 Suburban Catholic).

Hinsdale South 10, Proviso East 0: Amy Narotsky struck out eight for Hinsdale South (3-6), which scored 7 runs in the first inning.

Seneca 16, Lisle 0: Host Seneca scored 10 runs in the third to defeat Lisle (1-7, 1-5 Interstate Eight Conference).

Oak Park-River Forest 4, Hinsdale Central 0: Jordan Kulawiak struck out seven for Hinsdale Central (3-5-2, 1-1 West Suburban Silver Conference). The visiting Huskies scored 2 runs in the fifth and seventh innings.

Lyons Twp. 2, Downers Grove North 0: The Lions scored 2 runs in the top of the seventh to edge the Trojans (4-6, 0-2 West Suburban Silver). Jules Burton struck out 12 for Downers Grove North.

Baseball

West Chicago 5, Naperville Central 1:ŒTrevor Bodie (2-1) tossed a 3-hitter with 5 strikeouts and no earned runs allowed for the Wildcats (3-6, 1-4) in their DuPage Valley Conference win. Dave Sampiller and Rhett Gunderson each had 2 hits while Barrett Serrato and Brian Simpson hit 2-run homers.

WW South 19, Glenbard North 6:ŒWinning pitcher Dustin Quattrocchi (1-0) launched one of 3 home runs for the Tigers (3-7, 2-2) in their DuPage Valley Conference victory.

Lake Park 13, Larkin 0:ŒMike Ostrowski, Peter Spear and Bryan Woods hit home runs and combined for 11 RBI as the Lancers (5-4, 2-2) rolled to a five-inning Upstate Eight Conference win. Vito LaPorta improved to 3-0 on the mound.

Driscoll 13, St. Edward 11:ŒThe Highlanders (9-3, 2-1) rallied from a 10-3 third-inning deficit to win in the Suburban Catholic Conference. Adam Davis and Kyle Sanders hit back-to-back homers in the third inning. Rick Divito improved to 2-0.

Montini 14, Immaculate Conception 2:ŒThe Broncos (7-2, 3-0) scored 13 runs in the bottom of the fifth, capped by Chris Briggs' 3-run home run, to end the Suburban Catholic Conference game. Winning pitcher Matt Beuke (1-0) struck out nine and allowed no earned runs.

Lisle 9, Seneca 2:ŒThe Lions (8-3, 4-2) extended their Interstate Eight Conference winning streak to four straight behind home runs by Jon Kolosky, Billy Potter and winning pitcher Jon Surber (3-0).

Wheaton Academy 12, Chicago Christian 2:ŒAn 8-run fourth inning allowed the visiting Warriors (4-2, 3-0) to claim their Private School League win in five innings. Eric Albaugh tripled and homered while Ryan Dzingel drove in 3 runs. Sterling Witt (2-1) won on the mound.

Fenton 5, Elmwood Park 4:ŒThe Bison stayed unbeaten at 2-0 in the Metro Suburban Conference, rallying for the victory with 2 runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. T.J. Summers and D.J. Anderson each had 2 hits while Sean O'Connell was the winning pitcher.

Neuqua Valley 20, Benet 7:ŒA 9-run first-inning outburst was followed by a 7-run third for the Wildcats (7-3) in their five-inning nonconference win. Jason David homered twice and drove in 5 runs. Jordan Williamson added 6 RBI and Geoff Rowan 4 RBI. Matt McKinley (2-1) pitched all 5 innings to earn the win. Alex Staehely, Pat Gelwicks and Tim Lynch homered for Benet (6-3).

Glenbard West 15, Addison Trail 11:ŒJ.D. Macleary hit 2 home runs accounting for 4 runs as the Hilltoppers (6-5) claimed the nonconference win. Marty Detmer (1-0) pitched 2 innings of relief to notch the victory. Matt Turk and Kevin Babica hit home runs for Addison Trail.
