Youth theater to stage 'The Little Mermaid'

Christian Youth Theatre of McHenry County will present "The Little Mermaid" starting Friday at Lake Zurich High School Performing Arts Center, 300 Church St., Lake Zurich.

Performances will begin at 7 p.m. Friday; 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Saturday; 7 p.m. Feb. 29; 2 and 6 p.m. March 1; and 2 p.m. March 2.

The spirited mermaid Ariel, daughter of King Neptune, dreams to shed her fins and live up on dry ground. Striking a bargain with the sea witch, she secures a pair of legs and a world of adventure.

The cast of 100 children ages 8 to 18 reside in Algonquin, Cary, Crystal Lake, Huntley, Island Lake, Lake in the Hills, Lakemoor, Lakewood, McHenry, Ringwood, Sleepy Hollow, Spring Grove, and Wonder Lake.

Tickets purchased in advance cost $12 for adults, $9 for children ages 2 to 17 and seniors age 62 and older and 48 for groups of 15 or more. All tickets cost $8 to attend the family day show at 2 p.m. Saturday.
