Cinderella needs clothes

Cinderella's Closet, an event sponsored by the Junior League of Kane and DuPage counties to provide financially challenged young ladies with prom outfits, is holding a Dress and Accessory Drive. Prom dresses, jewelry, evening wraps, purses, hair accessories and formal shoes can be dropped off between Sept. 14 and Oct. 9 at the following locations: First Centennial Mortgage, 2471 W. Sullivan Road, Aurora; Elburn Town and Country Public Library, 320 E. North St., Elburn; Indian Boundary YMCA, 711 59th St., Downers Grove; DWS, 321 James St., Geneva; and three Naperville locations - Northern Trust, 401 S. Main St., Fry YMCA, 2120 W. 95th St., and St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, 2220 Lisson Road. 'Glow Ball' for couples

Play golf in the dark at the third annual Couples Glow Ball Golf Event Sept. 12 at Orchard Valley Golf Course, 2411 W. Illinois Ave., Aurora. The evening begins with cocktails at 7 p.m., followed by an appetizer buffet and shotgun start at 8:15 p.m. Golfers receive illuminated golf balls and are outfitted with glow-stick gear for this five-hole event. Registration is $99 per team and includes green fees with cart, buffet, glow equipment, keepsakes, beverage tickets and prizes. Entry fees are due 5 p.m. Monday. Call (630) 907-0500.

AARP driver program

The AARP Driver Safety Program is being offered in Batavia in conjunction with Green Light Driving School from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 6 and 7. ECC employee lauded

Mark Carriveau, an Elgin Community College electronic imaging specialist, was recognized for service as a member of the University Photographers' Association of America. Carriveau, of West Chicago, received the Distinguished Service Award during the association's 48th annual Technical Symposium in June in Jamestown, N.Y. Founded in November 1961 by a group of New England-area college photographers, the association has evolved into an international organization of more than 260 members hailing from colleges and universities in the United States, Canada, Australia and Israel. The association addresses the application and practice of photography as it relates to higher education. Carriveau has worked at ECC since 1996.
