Naperville Central hands Wheaton N. first loss of season

Naperville Central scored 5 runs in the third inning and again in the sixth to hand top-ranked Wheaton North its first baseball defeat of the season Friday afternoon in Naperville.

Senior right-hander Pat Kaminska allowed just 3 hits in the complete-game victory. He struck out seven and walked none.

Matt Cmiel led the Redhawks (15-11, 9-5 DuPage Valley Conference) by going 3-for-4 with a homer and 4 RBI. Nick Linne was 2-for-3 with 3 runs scored, a double and a RBI. Ben Lucas was 2-for-4 with 2 runs and a triple among the Redhawks' 15 hits.

Wade Cervenka (3-1) took the loss for Wheaton North (20-1, 13-1). Jeff Schalk hit a 2-run home run in the fourth inning for the Falcons.

The teams play Game 3 of the three-game series this morning in Naperville.

Glenbard South 8, Glenbard West 0: In a Glen Ellyn cross-town rivalry game played at Elfstrom Stadium in Geneva, Tony Scotellaro (2-2) threw a complete game for the Raiders (15-12), allowing just 3 hits in the shutout. Matt Behnke hit a 2-run home run in the third inning, his first homer of the season. Sterling Smith was 2-for-3 with a double.

West Chicago 16, Glenbard North 12: West Chicago hits 6 home runs, including a grand slam by Ethan Burau. West Chicago scored 5 runs in the top of the seventh for the victory over Glenbard North (9-13, 3-11 DuPage Valley Conference) in Carol Stream.

Glenbard East 10, WW South 5: Sean Little hit a home run and Cody Thompson (4-4) earned the victory for Glenbard East, which scored 6 runs in the top of the first inning. Ryan Conley was 4-for-4 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI for WW South (14-9, 8-6 DuPage Valley Conference).

Naperville North 13, West Aurora 5: Charlie White hit his fifth home run of the season and Dan Sagan hit 2 home runs to lead Naperville North (19-5, 12-3 DuPage Valley Conference) to the victory. Kyle Klosak pitched 4 innings in relief allowing just 1 run and striking out 6 for the victory.

Lisle 2, Peotone 0: Nick Thome (1-1) was the winning pitcher, throwing a complete game. He struck out 7 Peotone hitters. Lisle (11-14, 6-5 Interstate Eight Conference) scored 1 run in the second inning and 1 in the top of the seventh at Peotone.
