Gobble-'em-up Sloppy Joes

1 1/2 teaspoons olive oil1 medium-large onion, peeled and finely chopped3 cloves garlic, minced 3/4-1 teaspoon chili powder1 1/2 pounds all-white meat ground turkey (or chicken) 1/2 teaspoon fresh-ground black pepper1 teaspoon light brown sugar1 1/2 cups tomato puree 3/4 cup ketchup2 tablespoons orange juice3-4 tablespoons water 1/4 teaspoon hot pepper sauce6 whole grain hamburger bunsHeat oil in large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat until hot; stir together onion and oil. Reduce heat to medium, cover and cook, stirring occasionally, until onion is soft, about 8 minutes (taking care not to burn onion). Add garlic and chili powder and cook, uncovered, stirring constantly, until fragrant, about 30 seconds.Add turkey and cook, breaking up meat with cooking spoon's edge, until just starting to lose pink color (some pink remaining is OK), about 3 minutes. Stir in pepper, brown sugar, tomato puree, ketchup, orange juice, water and hot sauce and simmer, stirring occasionally until sauce thickens slightly, about 8-10 minutes.
