Wheaton North rallies to victory over Elk Grove

Sophomore Jeff Schalk blasted a game-winning home run in the bottom of the sixth inning as Wheaton North rallied for a 4-3 baseball victory over visiting Elk Grove.

Trey Martin improved to 2-0 by striking out five in 3 innings of relief, including a scoreless top of the seventh inning. Wade Cervenka also homered for the Falcons (2-0), a solo shot in the fourth inning.

Naperville North 11, Plainfield North 1: Jake Naumann (2-0) notched his 20th career win behind home runs from Dan Grimley, Charlie White and Nick Laskowsky as the Huskies (3-1) won in five innings. Jack Krejci doubled twice.

West Chicago 2, Grant 1: Blair Skarin's 2-run second-inning double provided the Wildcats (3-0) their margin of victory. Trevor Bodie (1-0) threw a 3-hitter with no earned runs, striking out 10 and walking four. Tyler Christ and Rhett Gunderson each went 2-for-3.

Downers North 19, Glenbard East 11: The Trojans (1-2) scored 11 runs in the final two innings to pull out the slugfest victory. Jack Lowry went 4-for-5 with 3 RBI while Eric Jagielo and Dan Sheppard each homered. Kevin McGarry, Anil Patel and Mark Krueger, who homered and drove in 3 runs, each had 3 hits for Glenbard East (0-4).

Willowbrook 12, Lane Tech 6: Brian Monette went 2-for-3 with a double, triple and 2 RBI for the Warriors (2-2). Brian Morgan (1-1) pitched 2 2/3 innings of relief to earn the win. Matt Kotilinek and Nick Cuzzone each had 2 hits and an RBI for Willowbrook.

Oswego 3, Naperville Central 2: Cory Johnson's 2-run double in the second inning was the game winner for nonconference foe Oswego (1-1). Naperville Central (2-1) had taken the lead in the top of the second on RBIs by Ryan Walsh and Wesley Webb.

Ridgewood 6, St. Francis 5: Ridgewood scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning with a bases-loaded single. Tommy Purdom went 2-for-3 with 2 triples and a run scored for St. Francis (3-2) in the nonconference game.

Batavia 10, Glenbard West 3: Glenbard West (2-2) took the nonconference loss on the road despite 3 hits from Drew Blane and 2 apiece by Jesse Condie and Bryan Emanuel.
