Tuesday's Fox Valley roundup
Kaitlyn Stonecipher and Kiersa Parillo had 3 hits each Tuesday as the South Elgin softball team rolled to a 12-2 Upstate Eight Conference win over East Aurora. Parillo had a double for the Storm (11-7, 5-2), which pounded out 14 hits in the 6-inning win.
Brittany Boelter, Kim Pierce and Cary Thereon (3 RBI) each added 2 hits for South Elgin. Alyssa Krause also drove in 2 runs.
Xenia Cerda picked up the win, scattering 7 hits in 5 innings of work.
Bartlett 10, Streamwood 0: Delaney O'Malley's single was the only hit Bartlett's Callie Dennison (9-5) allowed as the Hawks (11-8, 4-4) rolled in the Upstate Eight by scoring all 10 of their runs in the first inning. Dennison and Megan Morales had doubles for Bartlett. Dennison struck out 10. "That was what I call a lunch-pail game," said Bartlett coach Jim Wolfsmith. "You pick up your lunch pail and go to work. We were very efficient in the first inning with our hitting." Jenny Szabo was the losing pitcher for Streamwood (1-12, 1-6).
Neuqua Valley 13, Larkin 1: Victoria Nino was 2-for-4 with an RBI for Larkin (4-12, 3-5) in this Upstate Eight loss. Lexi Smithberg suffered the loss in the circle for the Royals.
Prairie Ridge 7, Huntley 4: Johanna Turner allowed just 6 hits as Prairie Ridge won the battle of the unbeatens in the Fox Valley Conference Fox Division. Jenna Mychko, Deana DeBosschere and Jordan Hogue each hit home runs for Huntley (13-8, 3-1) and Sam Clemons (2-for-3) suffered the loss in the circle. She struck out seven while Turner struck out nine for the Wolves, who got 2 hits each from Anna Patras, Erika Trojan and Lexi Wachman.
Ridgewood 13, St. Edward 6: St. Edward (11-9) committed 6 errors and lost its sixth straight game in this nonconference matchup. Lea Diaz (3-for-4, RBI), Kristina Brockner (2-for-4, RBI), Sarah Field (RBI), Kristi Knott (2-for-4, 2 doubles), Kelsey Richmond (RBI), Megan Smith (RBI) and Veronica Rolando (RBI) led the Green Wave offense. Field suffered the loss, allowing 9 earned runs.
Cary-Grove 12, Dundee-Crown 9: These two FVC Valley teams made 7 errors each as Cary-Grove (10-9, 3-1) held onto a share of first place in the division with this nine-inning win. Katie Berg was 4-for-5 with 2 doubles for the Trojans and Alexis Haley went 3-for-5 with a triple. Lindsey Marshall was the winning pitcher. Emilie Kerkman had 3 hits for the Chargers (4-10, 0-4) and suffered the loss in the circle in relief of Melany Love. Melissa Summaria and Love each had 2 hits for D-C and Tiffany Rawlinson had a double.

Judson sets wins record: Judson University finished its season Tuesday by losing to Purdue-North Central 9-1 in the CCAC Tournament. Earlier in the day, the Eagles (25-26) set a program record for wins with a 5-3 victory over Olivet Nazarene. In that game, Carrie Sensor went 3-for-4 and Lizzy Jacobson recorded the win.
