Kelsey Wirth's 2-run single keyed a 5-run Benet second inning, and it hung on for a 6-5 nonconference win against Downers Grove South.

Downers Grove South (0-1) had the tying run on second with two out in the seventh, but Benet's Meghan Eastman (3-0) induced a groundball to end it. Eastman struck out seven. Marissa Mersch went 3-for-4 with 2 doubles and a run scored for Downers Grove South.

Wheaton North 6-14, Geneva 1-4: Kahla Nolan (4-0) struck out eight and Kelsey Ullrich homered again for the Falcons in the first game. In the nightcap Rachel Holaway drove in 5 runs for Wheaton North (5-0).

Lockport 12, Lake Park 2: The visiting Porters tagged Lake Park (0-1) for 3 runs in the first inning and 6 in the second. Casey Rogers had 7 RBI for Lockport.

Hinsdale Central 2-6, Waubonsie Valley 1-4: Kelly Yedinack's suicide squeeze bunt in the top of the eighth scored the winning run in the first game for Hinsdale Central. Lindsey Jozefowicz (0-2) struck out 10 for Waubonsie Valley. Grace Amodeo had 2 doubles for Hinsdale Central (2-3) in the second game.

St. Francis 11, Oswego 1: Paige Davis went 2-for-3, scored 2 runs and drove in 2 and Taylor Ronchetto (3-0) struck out 10 for St. Francis (4-2).

Newark 4, Lisle 3: Newark scored an unearned run with one out in the bottom of the eighth. Bekka Houda (2-2) struck out eight and allowed zero earned runs and Breanne Prindeville had an RBI triple for Lisle (2-3).

Schaumburg 3, Downers Grove North 0: Kendall Ryndak and Hallie Niewold both went 2-for-3 for the Trojans (0-1).

Heritage Christian 4, Wheaton Academy 3: Warriors freshman Kim Olson came on in relief to pitch three hitless innings, extending her hitless streak to seven innings this season.
