MCC to host sports, strength clinic
McHenry County College will host the 2009 Midwest Strength and Conditioning Clinic from 8:30 a.m. to 4:50 p.m. Saturday, March 14 that will feature mini workshops on cutting edge workout programs, latest research in fitness training, and power training for everyday lift.
The clinic is open to anyone interested in the field of fitness, whether for hobby or profession, and will feature several mini workshops on such topics as "Dynamic Warm-up and Flexibility," "Applying Research to Training," "Common Problems and Solutions for Clients," and "Functional Movement Screening."
Keynote speaker will be Roger Earle, professional education division director at Human Kinetics, Inc. of Champaign. He will present "The History and Future of Fitness Certifications." He will discuss the evolution of fitness certifications as they relate to consumer protection and certification businesses. He will also talk about how the proposed regulation of fitness certification in various states will affect the personal trainer.
The clinic will be held at McHenry County College with check-in at the conference center in Building B. Cost is $99 per person, $49 for college and high school students. Registration after March 6 is $119, or $59 for students. No refunds. Lunch is included in the fee.
