Wheaton College series to feature 'An Evening of Folk, Bluegrass & Gospel' with Jake Armerding and family
The Wheaton College Artist Series continues with an evening of folk, bluegrass and gospel music with "The Armerdings in Armerding" on Friday, April 1.
This concert will feature Taylor, Jake and Jesse Armerding, the son and grandsons of Wheaton College President Hudson T. Armerding, the man for whom the Arts Center was named. Hudson had served as the college's president for almost two decades, from from 1965 to 1982.
Jake Armerding, grew up playing classical violin and listening to 1980s pop radio, and now performs with Rosin, Barnstar! and The Fretful Porcupine.
Over the course of three thousand performances, he has shared the stage with Bela Fleck, Nickel Creek, Josh Ritter, David Wilcox and Toad the Wet Sprocket.

Taylor Armerding has been immersed in the New England bluegrass/American music scene for decades. A founding member of the Boston-based progressive bluegrass band Northern Lights, Taylor achieved national prominence as a singer, songwriter and mandolin player.
The concert takes place at 7:30 p.m. at the Armerding Center for Music and the Arts Concert Hall located at 520 E. Kenilworth Ave, Wheaton.
General admission is $35 for all adults or $10 for children or students with an ID.
Seats are not reserved this season, enabling you to sample the hall from different perspectives.

The 2021-22 theme for the Wheaton College Artist Series is "The Year of the Arts, Faith & Imagination," showcasing live music and dance from the classical and folk traditions.
The 72nd season wraps up on Tuesday, April 19, with the return of singer and storyteller Ken Medema. "The Musical Genius of Singer and Storyteller Ken Medema" will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Armerding Center. Tickets are $10-$35. Email artsevents@wheaton.edu for questions.
