Dr. Deryck Barson installed as senior pastor at Wheaton's Bethel Presbyterian Church

Bethel Presbyterian Church, 1401 S. Naperville Road in Wheaton, installed Rev. Dr. Deryck Barson as its senior pastor on July 31.

Barson has been called to Bethel to continue his lifelong passion of preaching and teaching of the great salvation offered to all through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Recognizing these difficult times, Dr. Barson has begun his preaching ministry by preaching through the Old Testament book of Lamentations. Once he completes this sermon series, he will preach through the New Testament book of Philippians.

Barson comes to Bethel from Tenth Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he served as assistant minister. Prior to serving at Tenth Presbyterian Church, he was the founding pastor of All Souls Christian Church in Midtown Manhattan, New York City.

Barson has a Masters and a Ph.D. from Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia, PA. Both degrees are in systematic theology. His doctoral thesis was on Thomas Aquinas's Trinitarian theology and has been submitted for publication as a book.

Deryck is married to the love of his life, Cathy. The Barsons have three children.

Bethel is open for in-person worship at 9:30 a.m. each Sunday.

A reservation for in-person worship is required, and can be made at bethelopc.org.

Reservations should be made by Wednesday each week as Bethel limits the number attending in-person worship.

Bethel also livestreams its worship services and they also can be viewed at bethelopc.org.
