The Green Read hosts book launch for local author Feb. 9

The Environmental Defenders of McHenry County's The Green Read book store will host a book launch for local author Barbara Stewart.

She has just published "The Caregiver's Guidebook: Your Resource for Successfully Navigating Life as a Caregiver," an insightful guide for anyone who needs help to successfully navigate life as a caregiver.

Join her at The Green Read, 61 N. Williams St. in Crystal Lake, at 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 9, for her interactive presentation about being a caregiver.

Stewart suddenly became a caregiver from the time her husband was diagnosed with end stage liver failure through his successful live donor transplant and recovery. She calls herself as a "self-taught caregiver" as she navigates the tasks that define this unsolicited title. A search for support, solutions and guidance are the similarities caregivers share despite the uniqueness of family dynamics and patient's responses that define them.

The purpose of "The Caregiver's Guidebook" is to not only provide you with her story, but to share worksheets and lists that will help you chronicle, organize and personalize your journey. Stewart wants you to nurture your loved one and yourself physically and emotionally as you navigate the healthcare system.
