Volunteer Center McHenry County educates and prepares nonprofits to make an impact

Volunteer Center McHenry County will host the 2019 Board Excellence Program from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, to help educate nonprofit board members on how to successfully contribute to and grow their organizations.

Experienced, new, and prospective board members are all encouraged to attend.

Having the right board training is the first step in ensuring the safety, stability, and sustainability of a nonprofit agency. It's also vital for individuals to understand the fiscal and legal responsibilities they take on by accept a position as a board member.

The 2019 Board Excellence Program is designed to help nonprofits take their boards to new levels of engagement and understanding through a comprehensive day of experiential learning.

Through multiple sessions, participants will examine the legal and regulatory matters of nonprofits, understand their roles and responsibilities as a board member, learn how to reduce organizational liability through accurate minutes, and gain valuable insights on recruiting future board members.

The day will conclude with a live Q&A session with a panel of experienced nonprofit board members and executive directors.

Active and potential nonprofit board members are encouraged to attend to have their questions answered, enhance their professional network, and learn how they can have a significant impact on the community through their organization.

The 2019 Board Excellence Program will be 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, at Volunteer Center McHenry County, 620 Dakota St., Crystal Lake.
