MCC Black Box Theatre opens with 'The Foreigner'
The Black Box Theatre at McHenry County College will present Larry Shue's comedy "The Foreigner," opening Oct. 18.
The scene is a fishing lodge in rural Georgia often visited by "Froggy" LeSeuer, a British demolition expert who occasionally runs training sessions at a nearby Army base.
This time "Froggy" has brought along a friend, a pathologically shy young man named Charlie, who is overcome with fear at the thought of making conversation with strangers.
The play builds to a funny climax in which things go awry for the "bad guys," and the "good guys" emerge triumphant, according to Dramatist Play Service.
The cast of "The Foreigner" includes Fallon Knaak of Union, Jake Seeyle of Harvard, Yvonne Alton of McHenry, Liam Bell of Johnsburg, Jackson Nielsen of Woodstock, Jason Neal and Matthew Stewart, both of Crystal Lake.
"The Foreigner" is directed by Kathryn A. McCord of Crystal Lake, set design by Jay Geller of Kildeer, lighting design by Rick Amundsen and costume design by Kathy Brunke, both of Woodstock; stage manager Rachel Schneider of Johnsburg; and fight choreographer Bill Daniel of Chicago.
"The Foreigner" opens Thursday, Oct. 18, and continues on a Thursday through Saturday schedule Oct. 19-20, 25-27 and Nov. 1-3. All performances begin at 7 p.m. at the Black Box Theatre, 8900 Route 14, Crystal Lake; park in Lot C and enter in Building E.
Tickets are $10 for students, seniors, MCC Staff, MCC alumni, veterans and $15 for the general public. For reservations, call (815) 455-8746 or email jgeller@mchenry.edu.
