Local Author's Book Receives Reader's Favorite Award & Five-Star Review

Schaumburg resident Susan Miura is the recipient of a bronze medal in the annual Readers' Favorite International Book Award Contest for her young adult novel, Healer, released in January by Vinspire Publishing. Reader's Favorite informed Miura of the award in September and announced it publicly today, Oct. 1.

"It was such an honor and incredible feeling to receive this award," Miura said. "It's been a long and fascinating journey from concept to publication to this win. I'm grateful to my publisher, Vinspire, and the judges. Now to finish the sequel."

The book contest featured thousands of contestants from over a dozen countries, ranging from new independent authors to New York Times best-sellers and celebrities. The award ceremony will take place next month in Miami, Florida.

In addition to the award, Miura received a Reader's Favorite five-star review, in which reviewer Gail Kamer stated, "The pace is fast. The writing is active. The story line is amazing. Healer is a wonderful story to restore your belief in God's good in the world. The reader bonds with the characters and, of course, wants more." The full review and synopsis is available at https://readersfavorite.com/book-review/healer.

Healer is Miura's second novel and is available from several libraries including the Schaumburg Township District Library, and in paperback and ebook formats from Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Anderson's Bookshop, Kobo, Smashwords and others. Miura has also authored a children's animal poetry book, Pawprints in the Snow, which features her wildlife photography.
