Learn about 'green burials' at Green Drinks meeting
On Wednesday, Oct. 3, Caroline Vuyadinov, executive director of the Midwest Green Burial Society and writer of the weekly blog "Beyond the Pall," will speak at the next McHenry County Green Drinks meeting. She will present "What is Green Burial? What Choices Do I Have?"
On the first Wednesday of each month, the public is invited to gather from 5 to 7 p.m. for a talk and Q&A on environmental issues and to network with other sustainably minded people and professionals at Duke's Alehouse & Kitchen, 110 N. Main St., Crystal Lake.
Vuyadinov worked in both the conventional and alternative death care industry for the last seven years. She has appeared on WGN TV and "The Survivalist Podcast," speaking on the importance of ecological and self-empowered burial choices.
Recently, she wrote the chapter "Harm Reduction as a Model for Green Burial Practices" in the book "Changing Landscapes: Exploring the Growth of Ethical, Compassionate, and Environmentally Sustainable Funeral Practices."
