Centegra surgeon to discuss gastroesophageal reflux disease Nov. 9

Dr. Amir Heydari, a surgeon with Centegra Physician Care, will talk to community members about gastroesophageal reflux disease on Thursday, Nov. 9.

Heartburn, nausea and difficulty sleeping after eating certain foods are all signs of the digestive disorder known as GERD. At "Get Relief from Reflux," Heydari will discuss a new minimally invasive procedure to treat this disease that can alleviate symptoms and reduce or eliminate the need for medication.

The talk is part of "Healthy Doses," a series of free information sessions led by clinical experts from Centegra Health System on health care topics.

This session will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, in the Foglia Family Foundation Education Center in the lower level of Centegra Hospital-Huntley, 10400 Haligus Road.

The "Healthy Doses" series will continue Tuesday, Nov. 14, when Dr. Jyothi Gogineni, a board-certified endocrinologist with Centegra Physician Care, and Deb Gulbrandson, a physical therapist with Centegra Health System, discuss risk factors, prevention, diagnosis and treatment of osteoporosis. This bone disease is responsible for nearly 2 million broken bones each year.

"Osteoporosis and You" will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14, in the Foglia Family Foundation Education Center.
