April 28-29: CLC presents 19th Fear No Art festival

Dance, music, poetry and art collide at the 19th Annual Fear No Art festival presented by the College of Lake County April 28 at 7:30 p.m. and April 29 at 2 and 7:30 p.m. in the Mainstage Theatre of the James Lumber Center for the Performing Arts, 19351 W. Washington St., Grayslake.

Fear No Art will include original choreography by CLC dance students, set to music composed by artists such as Beyoncé, Bruno Mars, Leonard Cohen, Moby and Major Lazer. The show will also include a classical piano performance and original music and poetry created and performed by CLC students.

Student choreographers: Nelson Arizmendi (Latin-jazz-hip), Noel Brandis (contemporary-ballet), Josa Comstock (contemporary/modern), Anna Erdman (tap), Sacha Dill (hip-hop), Dani Oilschlager (contemporary/solo), Lexie Van Skyock (contemporary/solo).

Dancers: Noel Brandis, Charmaine Bruce-Kotey, Josa Comstock, Sacha Dill, Anna Erdman, Ashley Hoffman, Suzanne Mena, Kelsey Minden, Becka Nieder, Brooke Prais, Ruby Rocha, Shea Rumoro, Sabrina Soto, Michelle Stone, Kate Salyards, Niyah Thompkins, Lexie Van Skyock.

Musicians/Vocalists: Katarina Baker, Mikey Barker, Brooke Buchtenkirch, Diana Lu, Liz Hernandez, Emmalee Berger, Kelsey Minden, Volito Nox, Guillermo Aguilar and K.C. Phelan.

Original poetry presented by Alexander Castile, Caitlin Cappitelli Cone and Danny Rivera.

Three visual artists will display their work: Michael Long (photography), K.C. Phelan (colored pencil drawings) and Danny Rivera (photography, painting, drawings).

The production team includes Artistic Directors Valerie Alpert and Therese Crews, Stage Manager Matthew Bearor, Technical Coordinator Jeremy Eiden, Sound Engineer Brian Scocchera and Lighting Designer Margaret Nelson.

"Each artist in Fear No Art has contributed their work in an effort to share their artistic passion with others. My hope is that the arts continue to support each other in order to foster an appreciation across all art forms throughout our community," said Valerie Alpert, artistic director and dance instructor.

Tickets: Regular $12; CLC/Seniors/JLC Subscribers $10; children under 12 $5. Children's tickets must be purchased with adult tickets. Prices include a $2 JLC facility fee. For tickets or more information, call (847) 543-2300 or visit
