Meet CLC Board of Trustees candidates at forum
A candidates forum for the College of Lake County Board of Trustees April 4 election will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 27, in the Student Commons near Café Willow at the Grayslake Campus, 19351 W. Washington St.
The forum is being sponsored by the CLC Student Government Association and the College of Lake County Federation of Teachers Political Action Committee.
The community is invited to ask questions and meet the candidates running for election.
Carlos Catalan, former Student Government Association vice president, will serve as moderator. Candidates will introduce themselves and briefly address the audience. Questions can be submitted online at clcftpac@gmail.com or given to the moderator.
There are two open seats on the board. The seven candidates are: Catherine M. Finger of Grayslake, Loretta K. Dorn of Volo, James Creighton Mitchell Jr. of Lindenhurst, Michele Vaughn of Grayslake, Julie B. Shroka of Grayslake, Gerri Songer of Hawthorn Woods and Matthew Stanton of Gurnee.
The term of office is six years, and the positions up for election are currently held by Jeanne Goshgarian and Lynda Paul.
The college is governed by a seven-member board of trustees, elected from among the citizens of Community College District 532 to ensure local accountability.
