Sign up for Spring Iconography Workshop at St. George Church

St. George Byzantine Catholic Church in Aurora will host its spring Iconography Workshop on Monday, April 11, to Friday, April 15, at the church, 720 Rural St. in Aurora.

This is an introduction to the liturgical art of the Christian East by iconographer Phil Zimmerman.

There will be two icons offered during this workshop. Saints Cosmas and Damian, two brothers who were healing saints popular in both the East and Western churches, and The Soul of Mary, an 18th-century Spanish colonial retablo with a wood and gold leaf frame.

Painting and presentations will be held each day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Great artistic talent is not required and supplies are included in the $300 registration fee.

The registration deadline is Monday, April 4, but interested participants should register immediately as space is limited.

Registrants do not have to be parishioners of St. George.
