Auditions held for boys who are interested in acting in Nutcracker
Boys ages 10 years old through 18 are invited to audition for the Von Heidecke Chicago Festival Ballet's 2015 production of the Nutcracker.
Auditions will be held on Saturday, October 3 between 4 pm and 4:20 pm, at Von Heidecke's Dance Center, 1239 S. Naper Blvd., Naperville.
Boys should arrive 30 minutes prior to their age group's start time to register. Audition forms are available on our website at www.chicagofestivalballet.com
The Von Heidecke Chicago Festival Ballet will present "The Nutcracker," choreographed by Kenneth von Heidecke locally at the Rialto Square Theatre in Joliet, and the McAninch Arts Center at the College of DuPage. The cast will have the opportunity to go on tour this season to perform with the Danville Symphony Orchestra.
"Very few Nutcracker productions, if any, tour out-of-state, but it's such a wonderful experience for the students," Von Heidecke said. "For example, when we took "The Nutcracker" to Miami, Fla., we received a thunderous standing ovation, and Miami's mayor came on stage and presented me with the Key to the City.
The Nutcracker" performance dates are as follows:
• Sunday, Nov. 29 at 2 p.m., at the Rialto Square Theatre,
15 E. Van Buren St., Joliet, Illinois
• Sunday, December 13th at 3:00 p.m.
with the Danville Symphony Orchestra, Danville, Illinois
• Saturday, Dec. 19, at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., and Sunday, Dec. 20 at 1 p.m. and 5 p.m.
with the New Philharmonic Orchestra at McAninch Arts Center at College of DuPage, 425 Fawell Blvd., Glen Ellyn.
This production is choreographed by Kenneth Von Heidecke, who is the protégé of legendary Prima Ballerina Assoluta Maria Tallchief, and whose works are seen around the world. It boasts internationally acclaimed principal dancers, spectacular scenery and costumes. President Obama's daughters appeared in this production of the Nutcracker, downtown at the Harris Theater in 2007 when President Obama was still a Senator of Illinois. Gold medalist U.S. Olympic figure skater Evan Lysecek attended this school, as well as Victoria Born of "Center Stage", and Joffery principal dancer Joanna Wozniak.
