Believe Project: $100 to help friend/coworker with big medical bills

Today's winner of a $100 bill through the Believe Project is Judy Walton of Elgin. Here is an excerpt of her pitch:

"I would love to give a family that I know and care about the $100 that can help their children have a brighter holiday. This past year has been very hard financially for them because of all their medical bills. Susana and I have worked at Panera Bread for the last six years, and she is ... always willing to help anyone with anything. Her youngest son had surgery early this year and was in the hospital for two months and then needed extended care. She was by his side the entire time. Her husband took a third-shift job so she could work during the day to make ends meet. Then this summer Susana had a mild heart attack. She was back to work in a week. She calls me her sister and treats me like one."

• The Believe Project is awarding $100 each day in December to a person with a good idea for how to use $100 to do a good deed for someone else.
