Nonprofit leaders can learn best way to write a grant

Speak with the leader of any nonprofit organization and you will find that grant development and writing are an important aspects of their job. Grants are the primary avenue to funding for many nonprofit organizations.

Because of the importance of grant development, Volunteer Center McHenry County will host an affordable, six session series with a focus on increasing grant development knowledge in a relevant and applicable way.

The six-day series starting Dec. 4 in McHenry will include two hours of information, including grant templates, information collection, a panel discussion with funders, identifying goals and objectives, the evaluation process and reporting outcomes.

"The series is designed to be a succession that builds on the previous session. However, participants choosing to attend single sessions will realize tangible benefits as well," stated Kathrine Violett, the presenter, who is an experienced grant developer and writer.

"Many nonprofits struggle with writing and developing grants, which is a major part of the nonprofit world. Nonprofits rely on grants to keep their organization's running and growing. I'm sure Kathrine will offer practical knowledge to make grant writing manageable. I'm looking forward to learning from her presentation and encourage all nonprofit staff and/or leadership to attend," stated Robin Doeden, McHenry County Community Foundation's executive director.
