Oct. 29: CLC instructors to present library program on Ricardo Montalbán

Film and television fans remember actor Ricardo Montalbán for his many roles: dancing and singing in MGM movies of the 1940s and 1950s, as Khan in "Star Trek," as Mr. Roarke in "Fantasy Island" and as Grandpa Avellan in the "Spy Kids" movies.

Learn how Montalbán's off-screen life was even more remarkable than his impressive Hollywood career in a multimedia presentation by College of Lake County sociology instructors John and Maria Jose Tenuto from 6:30-8 p.m. on Oct. 29. The presentation will be held at Cook Park Library, 413 N. Milwaukee Ave., Libertyville.

In the presentation, the Tenutos will reveal Montalbán's tireless efforts against prejudice, his own experiences with being stereotyped, his role his founding of the arts education organization Nosotros and his lifelong back pain and later disability. Using rare pictures and research conducted over seven years, the Tenutos' presentation shares the amazing story of a genuine role model.
