MCC announces Distinguished Alumni Award winners for 2014
McHenry County College and the Friends of MCC Foundation have announced the recipients of the 2014 Distinguished Alumni Award.
After a thorough review process, these individuals were selected as this year's recipients: Mary Miller of Crystal Lake, CEO/President of Miller Verchota Inc. in Crystal Lake; Mary Nader of McHenry, Associate Judge of the 22nd Judicial Circuit, McHenry County, Illinois in Woodstock; and Sandra Pierce of Huntley, CEO/President of Phoenix Woodworking in Woodstock.
These distinguished alumni are among a growing list of community college alumni throughout the U.S. who include renowned doctors, business leaders, artists, government leaders, athletes and scientists. MCC's distinguished alumni are evidence of community colleges serving as educational steppingstones for students toward successful careers.
The Distinguished Alumni Award recognizes the accomplishments of McHenry County College alumni who have demonstrated exceptional achievement in their chosen profession and have made a positive impact on their community.
The alumni class will be honored at a reception and award ceremony, sponsored by Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital, April 17 at McHenry County College.
"We are thrilled to be honoring these truly successful MCC Alumni by celebrating their achievements and the role the college has played in their successes," said Dane Walkington, development coordinator for the Friends of MCC Foundation.
The Distinguished Alumni Awards criteria includes that the candidate be a former MCC student, achieved success of an exceptional nature within his or her chosen field or profession, and has made a positive impact on his or her community through leadership and/or volunteering.
